A "golden line" is a line of text that is especially meaningful, surprising, helpful or thought provoking. The line can be from a piece of student writing, textbook, novel, short story, or primary source document, etc. As students read or write, they seek to find their own "golden line". Once they find the Golden line, students will explain to the rest of the class its significance, the thoughts and any questions that may arise.
