This session aims to create and reformat student engagement on both a teacher-led and student-led level while promoting literacy across contents utilizing the instructional content platform, Newsela. Struggling readers lack the confidence within their own abilities and consequently choose to limit their reading to a limited set of texts. Teachers will be able to intrinsically motivate students to explore a myriad of nonfictional texts across contents, therefore effectively developing students’ confidence and range.
